Why We Priced the Certification Exam at $100

Pricing a brand-new kind of credential is genuinely hard — there wasn't an obvious existing category to copy from, so we looked at what comparable certifications actually charge before landing on $100 for the Foundation Moves exam.

Why this matters to us personally

The Skills 2 Score team includes current and former amateur and professional players, alongside professional coaches — people who've seen firsthand how exorbitant coaching-education fees repel deserving, experienced coaching candidates from ever getting certified, and leave countless players without proper development and training guidance as a result. We built our pricing to be achievable for almost any coaching candidate, without pushing them into serious debt or requiring the kind of access that most coaching-education facilities and opportunities demand.

What we compared it against

Established professional coaching and fitness certifications sit well above where we priced this exam. The NSCA's CSCS certification, for example, runs $340 for members and $475 for non-members. UESCA's Running Coach Certification runs $499. Those are real, respected professional credentials — and they're priced for people entering or advancing a coaching career, often with employer or institutional support behind the cost.

Why we didn't price Foundation Moves the same way

Foundation Moves is a feints/moves technical skills professional certification aimed at players, coaches, parents, and educators who want a real, documented professional foundation, which is currently unavailable in most privately and federation operated coaching education and licensing programs, and is accessible without committing several hundred dollars. Pricing it at $340–$499 would have priced out most of the people it's actually meant for: individual players, parents supporting a young player, and coaches who want a credential without committing to a multi-hundred-dollar professional program first.

Where that leaves $100

$100 sits meaningfully below other professional-certification pricing while still reflecting that this is a real, graded exam — not a free download or a participation badge. We check this pricing periodically against new comparables as we find them, and so far nothing we've found has changed the conclusion that $100 is the right number for what this credential actually is.
